Vacation-Day 1

On Monday, July 12, we headed out of Tennessee to vacation in Hilton Head Island, SC. This was our first time going there for vacation, so we were really looking forward to it. (We had originally planned our vacation to Ft. Walton Beach, FL, but we had to cancel due to the oil spill.)
We left at 7:23 a.m. Our huge bag of snacks
We stopped at a Chick Fil-A somewhere in SC for lunch--my favorite!
Getting closer...
Palm trees...finally!
We made it! It took us a little over 7 hours to get there. Keeping us entertained along the way was lots of country music...mainly Justin Moore, Luke Bryan & Eric Church!
We arrive at our resort, The Westin, and it exceeded my expectations. Absolutely beautiful!

After we checked in around 3:30, we unloaded all of our luggage and headed back out to explore the island. We went to the Tanger outlet mall & the indoor mall, and then we tried to decide on where we wanted to eat. I had done a lot of research on the best places to visit/eat in Hilton Head, so we decided to try the Skull Creek Boathouse and mark it off our list. It started raining really hard on our way there, but we didn't let it dampen our spirits! We were so scared the wait was going to be long because there were so many people there ahead of us. Thankfully, there were a lot of big groups waiting to be seated, and they took the two of us right in!

This bread was really good! It was a mix of a roll & a piece of cornbread.
I had the southern fried chicken
John T. had the Alaskan Halibut with cheese covered scallops...I tasted one of his scallops, and it was so good! I don't even like seafood!
This was John T.'s favorite restaurant of the whole trip. You will see what mine was later on...
