Laminin-Louie Giglio

I found this video a while back, but I saw it again today on Kelly's Korner. It is definitley worth the 8:43 that it takes to watch. Louie demonstrates that we are fearfully & wonderfully made, and God is holding us & all of our trials & problems together. How great is our God. :o)

FaB Friday Find NUMBER EiGhT (8)

My mom "won" a basket at the missions get-together last weekend with an amazing little gadget in it...& she gave it to me! Let me just say that I LOVE watching Rachel Ray, and if any of you out there have ever watched her, you have probably seen her use a Moppine towel. It is a kitchen towel & oven mit all-in-one. I LOVE it!

LOVE OUT LOUD! 2009 Missions Get-Together & Connection

This past weekend, (March 20-March 22) 12 ladies from my church (Riverside Baptist) & 2 ladies from South Harriman Baptist attended the Missions Get-Together in Gatlinburg. This was my first year going, and I have to say that it was so much greater than I anticipated! I loved each conference I attended, each worship service, & hanging out with the all of the ladies was too much fun! The speaker this year was Page Hughes. She was a down-to-earth southern preacher's daughter & husband, who was so inspiring! I am already looking forward to next year!

Fabulous Friday Find (#7)

In my post yesterday, I mentioned that I bought the Goosberry Patch cookbook, Comfort Foods. It is my fabulous find for the week! The cookbook offers homestyle recipes for feel-good foods that include breakfast, soups, breads, & sandwiches, sides & salads, mains, desserts, & comfort foods for one or two. I will be sure to update with more recipes that I try! :o)

Creamy Chicken & Rice

Calling all newlyweds or soon-to-be newlyweds or just anyone who cooks for just two people: I have the recipe for you! I know most everyone has eaten some sort of chicken & rice recipe. It is one of my favorite comfort foods, and I have not attempted to make it until tonight. This past weekend, we went to Pigeon Forge, and I found a Goosberry Patch cookbook at the Apple Barn that I had to have. It is titled Comfort Foods, and it has some great recipes, the creamy chicken & rice being one of them. In the back of the cookbook, there is a section called "Comfort Foods for One or Two." I have been looking for something like this since we got married. I always felt like I cooked a feast & we always had tons left over, so I have been in search for recipes for two! This recipe is super easy & can also be doubled or tripled, depending on your family size.

Creamy Chicken & Rice 3/4 c. instant rice, uncooked 10-3/4 oz. can cream of chicken soup 1-1/2 lbs. chicken (I used 2 chicken breasts) 2 T. onion soup mix

Mix together rice and soup; spread in an 8"x8" baking dish. Arrange chicken pieces on top; sprinkle with soup mix. Cover with aluminum foil; bake at 325 degrees for 1-1/2 hours, until chicken juices run clear when pierced. Serves 2.
I took a picture of the ingredients, but we were so hungry, I forgot to take a picture of the finished meal! :o) oops

FaBulous FrIday FiNd (#6)

I hate all diet drinks. My favorite drink is Sprite, and I have really, really tried to like Diet Sprite, Sprite Zero, whatever...but it just isn't happening for me. Diet Dr. Pepper, however, makes me smile! I LOVE the taste (it truly tastes like the real thing), and I love that I am actually drinking something with ZERO calories! I love their commericals, too. Everything looks so sweet & yummy!

A Hint of Spring

On Monday, when the weather was so beautiful & warm, I decided to head to Wal-Mart to buy the materials to make a spring wreath. I have wanted to make one since fall, but I never could get around to it. Ever since I can remember, my mom has made wreaths for every season, holiday, you name it! I wanted to see if I had any of her crafty talent in me, and I think the wreath turned out pretty good. :o) The "A" is my favorite part! Hopefully, the warm weather will return to replace the rainy cold! (However, we are -0.97 inches behind on the rain gauge for the year, so the rain was needed...I have had a weird obsession with keeping up with the rain gauge ever since the summer of '07 when everything was so dry.) Everyone have a happy Friday tomorrow!

Time for a change

So, I went to Lifeway last Tuesday night, and I was in search of a good book. Right now, my job is only allowing me to work PRN. When I am at home & away from the hospital, I try to keep myself busy & occupied. I felt like I needed something sustaining in my life...something life-changing. I am not usually a book person at all, but I just wanted something different. I went straight for the top-sellers, and I recogonized this title because I have seen other bloggers mention how great it is. So far the book has not let me down. It tells the story of Mary & Martha, when Jesus & His Disciples come to visit them. Martha is so concerned with how everything looks, if the house is clean, how much food to make etc., while Mary is just concerned with Jesus. She sits at His feet and listens to Him. I am in Chapter 2 right now, entitled, "Lord, Don't You Care?" It is really, really good so far, and I always look forward to the time when I can just sit down and read it. Has anyone else read it or heard good things about it?

Last high school b-ball game ever...

Yesterday, as I mentioned, we followed the Lady Bulldogs to Hampton, TN, for the sub-state game. It did not turn out as we hoped...Wartburg lost 79-46 to one of the best 3-point shooter teams I have EVER seen. This was Taleah's last high school basketball game. :o( It was sad, but I can't wait to see what Taleah might be able to do with college basetball if she gets the chance. After the game, we all went to Lonestar Steakhouse in Hampton and got back home around 2:00 A.M. Whew...it was a LONG trip!

Lady Bulldogs vs. Lady Bulldogs

Tomorrow, we will be making th 3 hour trip with the Lady Bulldogs to Hampton, TN, to play the Hampton Lady Bulldogs in the sub-state game. We have to travel because we lost to Oliver Springs in the region championship on Wednesday in OT 45-44. It was very sad :o( That was the BEST game I have seen the lady dogs play thus far, though. If we win tomorrow night, we will be headed to Murfreesboro to play in the state tournament on Wednesday. I'm hoping those girls win soo bad!! They deserve every win because of all of the hardships they have went through this season. GO BIG BLUE!!! #32!!

Happy Friday...my fabulous find number FiVe!!

Mega Volume: Root Lifting Spray by mark. I have sold mark off and on since August 2007. I've went back & forth because when I first started, I experienced some problems with the company (some of my customers ordered products that ended up not being available until 3-6 months later!). Now, they are back on track, and I haven't had any bad moments since I started back. My college roommate, Katie, as well as my mother-in-law, Lorrie sell Avon, and I bought this product above from them before I started selling mark. I have used this product since it came out, and I HAVE to have it every single day. My hair is thick, but after I blow dry it, it falls flat on my head. This spray does wonders for my do! :o) According to the mark website, it is an "alcohol-free spray that gives even fine, limp hair, all-day body, lift and texture. Contains soothing geranium and chamomile extracts. Specially formulated to build body and thickness at the root." If you are interested in this product or want to know more about mark, just e-mail me here. Have a great weekend, everyone!

WE WON!!!

So last night, I thought I was going to have to make a trip to the ER! Why? Because I could not breathe due to the craziness of last night's basketball game!! The Lady Bulldogs beat Oneida 38-37! The third time was a charm! :o) What's next?? They play Oliver Springs tomorrow night @ 7:00, & because of the win last night, they are automatically in the sub-state game on Saturday. If they win tomorrow, they will not have to travel to play in the sub-state. If they lose & Hampton beats Cloudland, they will have to travel to Hampton, TN (3-4 hours away) to play. I am so super excited for them!!! Maybe we will get to make another trip to the BORO for STATE! GO LADY BULLDOGS!!! #32!!

Monday Night DVR & Ballgame

I LOVE TV time on Monday nights! Tonight: Bachelor FINALE (I hope he picks Melissa!!), Jon & Kate Plus Eight, & The City! Also, John T.'s sister, Taleah, & the Wartburg Lady Bulldogs are playing in game 2 of the Divison I, Class A Region Tournament in Harriman. They beat Harriman on Friday night, & tonight they play the Oneida Lady Indians, who they have lost to twice this season. Does anyone else remember the OOO-NE-III-DA Oneida, Oneida, all the way cheer from back in the day?? I always think of it when I hear about Oneida. If Wartburg wins tonight, they play the winner of Oliver Springs & Greenback on Wednesday. Go LADY BuLlDoGs!! #32!
